According to early parish records a decision to proceed with the construction of the Emmanuel Anglican Church was made in September of 1892. The complete cost without furnishings was not to exceed $2,000.00. The sod turning occurred on September 5, 1893. Emmanuel Anglican Church served it parishioners from 1894 to 2007 when it held its final service and at that time was deconsecrated.
Today, the former Emmanuel Anglican Church is valued as an extremely well-preserved example of a Gothic Revival style church designed by Andrew Maxwell. It is one of the best preserved of a number of striking Gothic Revival churches built in wood during the Manitoba Settlement period in the late 1880’s and 1890’s. This historic site is well worth seeing.
